THE FINISHING NOTEBOOK
Before you block
Three checks before your project meets water, pins or heat.
Read the yarn label
Fiber content and care instructions help you decide which finishing method to explore. Do not apply direct heat to a project simply because another yarn tolerated it.
Try a small swatch first
Measure a test swatch before and after the intended care method. Check its dimensions, texture and color before treating the finished piece.
Plan the finished shape
Use the pattern’s intended dimensions as a reference. Give the work enough space, and avoid pulling it beyond the shape you actually want.
